Welcome to Sharp Elementary

Keeping Our Children and Schools Safe…At the May 14 Zone PTA meeting, Dr. Maureen Reusche shared with our PTA Presidents some of the recommendations of the security assessments that were conducted by district staff and members of the Cherry Hill Police Department. Click HERE to view the video of Dr. Reusche’s message. As a result of the security assessments, and after consultation with the building principals, the district will be implementing a series of recommendations to enhance the safety and security of our schools.  Some of the changes will be implemented in September 2013, but some – which involve changes in behaviors of staff and parents – will be implemented after the Memorial Day holiday. A summary of the changes is provided below Many thanks to the officers of the Cherry Hill Police Department for their assistance and professional expertise in conducting the security assessments and developing the recommendations.

Keeping Our Children and Schools Safe

Effective Tuesday, May 28, 2013, please abide by the following:

All employees will wear ID badges at all times when on District property.

All visitors to our buildings will be required to wear guest badges.

The main office must be notified (by a District Administrator) prior to the arrival of any delivery or service personnel.  Those who arrive without prior notification will not be admitted into the school shall be directed to report to Malberg.

When parents drop off forgotten items at school (e.g., lunches, books, musical instruments, sporting equipment), the item(s) will be left at the main entrance with the greeter (MS and HS) or in the main office at the Elementary level.

Adults may not accompany a child into the school building when bringing a child to school in the morning.  If a child is brought to school after the arrival time, the adult may accompany the child to the main office. *Barclay will be an exception to this guideline, as all parents of typically developing children who arrive on time bring their children to the classroom door.

Class/grade level parties (typically held at the elementary level) will have a two adult limit per classroom.

    • In all cases, teachers must provide the building principal with the names of adult visitors the day prior to the expected visit.

Utilize designated entrances and exits for SACC/EDCC business to minimize traffic in the halls of our buildings.
